Re-use the Check-In AppΒΆ

The Check-In app can only be added to the Course Navigation Menu of a Canvas course once per semester. Disabling and re-enabling the app will not clear student responses. However, you can add an additional instance of the app to a course page or module. This will create a separate link and a separate instance of the app. We recommend only having one Check-In app visible to students at any given time.

To use multiple instances of the Check-In app:

  1. We first recommend removing or hiding the Check-In app that you have already used.

    • If you added the old instance of the Check-In app to a course page or module, you can simply delete or unpublish that page or module item.
    • If the Check-In app appears as a link in your Course Navigation Menu, you can disable it by following the steps below:
      • Click on the Settings link in your Course Navigation Menu.
      • Click on the Navigation tab.
      • Scroll down until you find the Check-In item.
      • Click on the kabob (three-dot) icon, and select Disable.
      • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Save button.
  2. Follow the instructions to add the Check-In app to another course page or module.

  3. Communicate with your students to let them know another check-in is available for them to complete.
